Holistic Pelvic Care (TM)

Holistic Pelvic Self-Care— most people don't understand what this means...

because we've all been conditioned to think anything “down there” is a mysterious area that’s separate from the rest of the body. Aside from abysmal sex ed and groan-worthy articles in Cosmo, most are entirely disconnected from their pelvic bowl; leaving them with painful or numb sex, awful menstrual cramps, health challenges, and emotional wounds that interfere with daily life.

The pelvis is the center of the body in most holistic modalities and theories on human health & the spirit. It is the home of many highly complex processes. It initiates menstrual cycles, releases and regulates hormones, creates life, gives birth, and is the bodily universe in many holistic theories.

The pelvic bowl isn’t a dark and mysterious zone in your body. It holds tension just like you do in your shoulders and back. At the base of the pelvis are two intersecting bands of muscles that help contain the pelvic bowl. These layers of muscles, nerves, and tissue stretch like a hammock from the tailbone at the back to the pubic bone in the front and support your organs.

Do you know how that knot between your shoulders makes you cranky? You’ve likely got the same tightness in your pelvic area. And it affects mental clarity, mood, stress and dulls your physical, emotional, and energetic balances— creating imbalances that can lead to infertility, pelvic pain, PMS, menstrual irregularities, fibroids, ovarian cysts, low libido, leaking pee, and more. Maybe you thought these challenges are "the norm"?

Holistic means “whole” or “all the parts of something.” Now that we understand what the pelvic bowl is, we can explore how it might enhance physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness in the whole person.

Holistic Pelvic Care is a gentle combination of tools that evaluate, restore, and enhance balance in the pelvic area. It was first developed by Tami Kent, a holistic women’s health physical therapist who noticed that when working with women’s bodies, compassion, and energetic balancing massively boosted the success of physical treatments.

Think of all the possible issues that can present in this region of our body. Some of them are:

• Painful sex, numbness, or sexual dysfunction

• Urinary leakage

• Chronic bladder or vaginal infections

• Infertility

• Postpartum pain and discomfort

• Pelvic congestion

• Uterine prolapse

• Menstrual pain

• Complications from pelvic trauma or abuse

• Pregnancy loss

T
he list is exhaustive. So many live with it, not knowing they can be addressed.

Unfortunately, we’re told by doctors, family, and friends to suck it up— that’s just the lottery we won in these bodies. With the right knowledge, tools, and guidance, these issues can change.

Consider reaching out, getting support, and doing self-practice work with the online course, and know that this is in the best interest of the longevity of your life in your body.
